1.2. The Website is owned and operated by The Compliance Institute, a company limited by guarantee, whose address is 107 Barkby Road, Leicester LE4 9LG (“the Institute”, “us”, “we” or “our”). For the purposes of these Terms, “the Institute” includes officers, members, employees, contractors and agents of the Institute.

2.1. This Website contains information, text, data, graphics, photographs, illustrations, artwork, names, logos, trade marks, service marks and information about the Institute, its areas of activity and general information on certain areas of law (the “Information”).
2.2. Except where it is otherwise expressly stated the information is not intended to, nor does it, constitute legal, accounting, business, financial, tax or other professional advise or services. The information is provided on an information basis only and should not be relied upon. No responsibility is accepted by or on behalf of the Institute for any errors, omissions, or inaccurate Information on the Website, Further, the Institute does not warrant that the Website will be uninterrupted or error free or that any defects will be corrected.

3.1. Websites or web pages to which this Website is linked are for information purposes only and have not been reviewed by the Institute. We accept no responsibility for the content of such websites or web pages, nor do we accept responsibility for any losses or penalties incurred as a result of your use of any links or reliance on the content of any website to which this site is linked.

4. Computer Viruses, Worms and Trojan Horses
4.1. Whilst we use reasonable endeavours to protect this Website from computer viruses, worms, and Trojan Horses (the “Destructive Features”), we do not warrant that the Website is free from such Destructive Features and accept no liability for any damage that may result from the transmission of any Destructive Feature via this Website or via any files which are available for you to download from the Website.
5. Copyright and Reproduction
5.1. Except as is otherwise indicated, the Institute is the owner of the copyright in all the Information featured on this Website and of all related intellectual property rights, including but not limited to all database rights, trade marks, registered trade marks, service marks and logos.

6. Data Protection and The Institute’s Privacy Policy
6.1. We may require basic information which identifies you as an individual (“Personal Information”), such as your name and email address, in order to enable you to take advantage of particular services that we offer, for example when you request one of our newsletters or further information on a specific service. We will only use such Personal Information for the purposes of providing information, which you have requested, or for other purposes set out in these Terms.
6.2. We may on occasion make use of Personal Information that we collect in order to help us administer the Website and/or for marketing purposes. We may for instance send you information about the Institute that we feel might be of particular interest to you. If you do not wish us to make use of your Personal Information in this way, please email enquiries@complianceinstitute.co.uk. We will also give you the opportunity to opt out of future marketing whenever we send you marketing material.

Except (i) to the extent that we are required to do so by law, (ii) in connection with any legal proceedings (including prospective legal proceedings), or (iii) in order to establish, exercise or defend the legal rights of the Institute, we will not disclose your Personal Information to any other party without first obtaining your permission.
6.4. The Institute will take reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your Personal Information. Employees, contractors and agents of the Institute may be given access to any Personal Information, which will collect, but their use shall be limited to the performance of their duties in relation to facilitating your use of the Website. The Institute’s officers, members, employees, contractors and agents who have access to your Personal Information are required to keep that information confidential and are not permitted to use it for the purposes other than to enable you to use the Website or to deal with requests which you submit to us.

6.8. The Institute has an internal procedure for dealing with complaints. However, should you feel that we have unsatisfactorily dealt with a complaint, you may ask the Council, which has its own complaints and redress procedure, to look into the matter further.

7.1. The following information is provided by us to ensure our compliance with the above regulations.

8. Changes to the Terms
8.1. The Institute reserves the right, at its discretion, to make changes to any part of the Website, the Information or these Terms. Should these Terms be amended, the Institute will publish details of the amendments on the Website. By continuing to use the Website you agree to be bound by these Terms as amended.
9. Severability
9.1. If these Terms or any part of them should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable under the laws of any state or country in which these Terms are intended to be effective, then to the extent that they are so illegal, invalid or unenforceable, they shall in that state or country be treated as severed and deleted from these Terms and the remaining Terms shall survive and remain in full force and effect and continue to be binding and enforceable in that state or country.

10.1. The Institute will not be responsible for any breach of these Terms caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

12.1. These Terms are subject to English law and to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
